Hello Memory community,
The Board had its regular meeting on the 22nd of April.
Attendants: Andrea, Charifa, Don Michael, Guillaume, Mohamed, Johannes, Simon.
Here is a short summary of what was discussed and decided:
The moderator for this session was Johannes Mallow and the secretary Guillaume Petit-Jean.
On the Agenda were two main points: organization of the WMC 2022 and updates about the priorities set by the board the week before.
Regarding the legal structure of the possible new IAM association, France was deemed an option and the board would like to know the procedure if we decide to move forward in this direction. Guillaume proposed to keep looking into it and to translate the basic procedure and requirements and possibly look into other options in Europe including the different costs.
IT call/updates/projects: the board decided to create a list of all the desired IT updates so that our team can work on it and set priorities. (different options such as continental records, the update of existing records, a test button to submit scores, new updated profiles with pictures for competitors, …) Andrea proposed to be in charge of this project.The board is happy with the use of the new tool (Notion) to follow up on tasks and updates.
Memory League World Tour: the board has discussed the 2022 ML world tour and wants to move forward with regular seasons and slam tournaments. Due to the tight schedule and the involvement required for organizers, the format might be subject to change.
WMC 2022: The interests from Sweden and Italy to host the WMC 2022 has been moved to 2023. This is very positive for 2023 fro which we have some very serious candidates.
Regarding the current candidatures, the board wants to move forwards with several countries which made their interest known to host the event.
The board also wants to make sure every possible candidate has been heard and considered before making its final choice for 2022.
Several board members proposed to contact different countries and national associations to ask them about their possible candidacy.
Some of the most important requirements to host such an event are:
- venue capacities and quality
- travel restrictions for foreigners
- COVID situation
- volunteer staff
- budget and sponsors
The board closed the meeting after the tasks were assigned and will meet again next week.
