Hello Memory community,

The Board had its regular meeting on the 13th of May.

Attendants: Andrea, Charifa, Don Michael, Guillaume, Mohamed, Johannes, Simon.

Here is a short summary of what was discussed and decided:

The moderator for this session was Johannes Mallow and the secretary Guillaume Petit-Jean.

On the Agenda were two main points: Remote Judging and monitoring of competitions and updates about the WMC 22 candidates.

Regarding the legal structure of the possible new IAM association, decision has been made to create a new IAM entity in France and Guillaume will be in charge of starting the process.

Remote arbitration and monitoring of a championship has been discussed by the board as a valid option already used in the past and one which could be used more in future events. This means having dedicated and independent organizers and supervisors on site, and adequate tools to allow online arbiters to properly monitor the competitors and the event.
This would also allow to reduce somehow the financial load of such events for the organizers.
A strict protocol for organizers and on site supervisors is necessary and the IAM board will work on redacting such a detailed document as a reference for future events.

WMC 2022:
Several candidacies show great potential and the IAM board is currently reviewing all candidates and communicates closely with the different national teams and groups looking to organize such a big event. Some key factors include, adequate venue, possible sponsors and travel restrictions.

Several countries such as Egypt, Libya, Germany, France, Uzbekistan are currently organizing national championships to be held in the coming month and the IAM board is giving its full support.

The board closed the meeting after the tasks were assigned and will meet again soon.

Best wishes,
Your IAM team
